Abstract
Not all able people are identified in childhood and the writer argues for the need of a flexible education system which offers lifelong opportunities for challenge and fulfilment. He suggests that the definition of giftedness be widened to embrace the top 10% of the population and that education should be concerned to ensure that Youth Services, Open Learning and Flexistudy opportunities are available throughout a person's life. The paper discusses several examples of such opportunities.
