Abstract
A quantum-mechanical calculation of the potential dependence of anomalous transmission of particles through crystals is made, showing that the anomalous effect can always be obtained at sufficiently high particle energy. Both the normal and the anomalous attenuation are found to depart markedly from that calculated from the free-particle cross section when the potential is broad compared to the atomic meansquare displacement. Two experiments to observe the predicted potential dependence are suggested. Keywords
