Abstract
Several vibration‐rotation bands of ketene have been resolved with a grating spectrometer and the rotational constants obtained from the subsequent analysis. Parallel bands of CH2CO and CD2CO yield B0 values of 0.3403 and 0.2952 cm—1, respectively. Strong and apparently complicated interactions prevent a satisfactory analysis of the perpendicular bands, but the methylene rocking and wagging bands appear to have origins at 978 cm—1 and 788 cm—1, respectively. The low frequency perpendicular bands have been re‐examined with a prism instrument, but with increased resolution. Analysis gives 588 cm—1 and 528 cm—1 for the band origins. Keywords
