Abstract
Pyroelectricity was measured in corona poled films of polyvinylidene fluoride by both the static and the dynamic methods, with and without d.c. bias fields. Apparent pyroelectric coefficients were increased by the application of the d.c. field but the extent of the increase diminished as the degree of poling increased. The increases in apparent pyroelectricity have been attributed to a conduction term produced by the bias field. The enhanced pyroelectric responses with the d.c. biased samples were found to be quite stable for well-poled samples, but for weakly-poled samples the apparent pyroelectricity decreased by 25% over two days due to a decrease in conductivity. Keywords
