Abstract
The mean lifetimes of levels in 23Na, 26Mg and 26Al have been determined by the Doppler shift attenuation method. The levels were populated by the reactions 23Na(p,p')23Na, 23Na ( alpha ,p) 26Mg and 23Na ( alpha ,n)26Al at proton bombarding energies between 3.6 and 7.0 MeV and alpha particle energies between 4.6 and 7.5 MeV. The gamma rays were detected using a Ge(Li)-NaI(Tl) anti-Compton and pair spectrometer. A discussion of the rotational band structure of the levels in 23Na below 5 MeV is given. The results for 26Mg and 26Al are compared with other recent determinations. Keywords
