Abstract
The (E)-dienol, hydroxy-o-quinone dimethide (2), formed preferentially by heating benzocyclobutenol, readily undergoes (4πs+2πs) cycloadditions and has been used as an entry into tetracyclic systems of the naphthacene series.Keywords
