Abstract
The running characteristics (signal stability) of MIG heads against MP, barium ferrite and ME tapes were studied by measuring friction force between a tape and head, head output and head contour. The tests were conducted in the still and streaming modes of operation. Some still mode testing was also conducted at different temperatures and humidities. Based on this study, running characteristics of MP and barium ferrite tapes appear to be superior to that of ME tapesKeywords
