Abstract
Correlations of daily egg production in Drosophila melanogaster with the segments, sc cv and v f of the first chromosome and with the segments, al dp and b pr of the second chromosome were investigated for the two genetic backgrounds, Oregon-R and M Oregon-R. The results show that large intra-chromosomal effects and interactions do exist with their magnitudes being largely dependent on background and chromosome. Evidence is also cited to suggest that recombination is also influencing the trait.A small experiment in predictability was performed and a reasonable degree of success was achieved. Keywords
