Abstract
A high frequency of hepatitis-B antigen (HB-Ag) (7%) was found in apparently healthy Yanomama Indians living in S Venezuela. The prevalence in 24 different Yanomama villages varied between 0-30%, but only 3 of 938 serum samples showed the presence of HB-Ab HB-antibody. The distribution of the HB-Ag was significantly higher in males than in females.
