Abstract
In 7 rabbits, 15-21 hrs. after mating, the corpora lutea were cauterized; 41-92 hrs. later the rabbits were killed and the embryos examined. In no case were all the ova normal. To test the possibility that the injury might be due to toxins produced in the burned tissues rather than to loss of the corpora lutea, 7 others were similarly treated except that the corpora lutea were not injured and burned tissue inserted into the wound. The embryos were found damaged, suggesting that burned tissue may poison them. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
