Abstract
A kinetics model for broadband optical pumping of the alkali–rare‐gas and alkali dimer A‐to‐X laser transitions is developed and is used to compute the small‐signal gain coefficient as a function of wavelength for the excimer and dimer bands of all of the alkali‐xenon systems. Net gain coefficients of ∼10−3–10−2 cm−1 are predicted on the excimer and dimer bands of all of the alkali‐xenon systems for practical values of operating pressure and flashlamp fluxes. For the considered operating conditions, the gain bandwidths of all of the alkali‐xenon excimer/dimer systems together span almost the entire wavelength range from roughly 6300 to 12 000 Å.This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
