Radiological gastric filling defect due to penetration into the spleen by a large gastric ulcer

Abstract
Few cases of penetration of a gastric ulcer into the spleen have been reported (Joffe & Antonioli, 1981; Stoica et al, 1973; Immelman, 1975). These arose from an ulcer in the fundus or proximal part of the stomach. We report a case where penetration into the spleen occurred near the antrum. Penetration was so extensive that the barium meal appearance was of a space-occupying lesion without evidence of the ulcer (Fig. 1).
