Abstract
The leaves and roots of R. stricta (Apocynaceae) yielded 4 indole alkaloids. Three of these isolates, vallesiachotamine, sewarine and tetrahydrosecamine, displayed cytotoxic activity [against mouse leukemia P.388 cells and human epidermoid carcinoma KB cells]. The 4th isolate, polyneuridine was not reported previously from this species. Tetrahydrosecaminediol (5), its acetate [tetrahydrosecaminediol diacetate] and didemethoxycarbonyl-tetrahydrosecamine were prepared from tetrahydrosecamine by chemical reactions. The diol 5 was highly cytotoxic. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
