Abstract
The sedimentation coefficients of ribo-somal RNA''s from 5 fungal and 5 bacterial species were determined in EDTA and at an ionic strength of 0.1. It was found that fungal rRNA''s have larger values than do their bacterial counterparts. It is suggested that the difference in sedimentation coefficients of eucaryo-tic and procaryotic ribosomes is due primarily to their rRNA''s.This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
