Abstract
Abundant data confirm a role for sodium intake in human blood pressure and for the pathogenesis and treatment of some forms of hypertension. New information concerning mechanisms for the effect of salt on blood pressure, as well as the relationship between salt intake and the heart and kidneys, is reviewed.Keywords
