Abstract
Recent suggestions for strategies to achieve ‘Person — Environment’ matching have been limited and misdirected because of over-simplistic guiding frameworks. A more sophisticated approach to work and job design is urged which will cope with both social and technological change to produce viable man — machine systems, acceptable in terms of both organizational effectiveness and individual well-being.Keywords
