Abstract
Patients suffering from severe thrombocytopenia require treatment for hypovolæmia at the same time as the platelet deficiency is being corrected. Removal of half a litre of blood from the patient followed by moderately fast transfusion of a litre of fresh blood rectifies both deficiencies without the use of platelet concentrates. Illustrative cases are described. Keywords
