Abstract
Prodded by the unnerving events of the past 4 weeks, government and industry labs are stepping up efforts to develop tests that can detect the presence of anthrax and tell whether a person is infected. Experts predict a tremendous push to develop many new tools in the coming years. Indeed, companies at the forefront of pathogen detection find themselves among the few that are doing very well since 11 September. Keywords
