Abstract
This study investigated the validity and reliability of the Suicidal Intent Scale as a measure of the seriousness of a suicide attempt. 194 completed suicides had higher scores on the scale than 231 attempters (nonfatal). In addition, 19 attempters who reattempted suicide within 1 yr. of discharge had greater suicidal intent than attempters who did not. Keywords
