Sex effect on the risk of mental retardation

Abstract
Risks of mental retardation were computed separately for the relatives of male and female probands. When compared, the risks for the relatives of females were always significantly higher than the risks for the relatives of males. These findings are consistent with the hypothesis of a differential genetic loading for males and females.Keywords
