Abstract
The technology of microfabrication can be applied to the formation of structures of use in biology applications. The behaviour of biological cells on surfaces containing steps and grooves is described. The guidance of ihe processes of nerve cels can be used to form networks of predetermined topography. Progress in the formation and observation of nerve cells in vitro on such structures is reviewed. Keywords
