Abstract
Mice irradiated when their colonic temperature is between 0[degree] and 0.5[degree]C, receive some protection against X-irradiation-induced life shortening. This protection is not nearly so great as that given the haemopoietic system by hypothermia. Hypothermia gives little or no protection against radiation-induced cataract. The ovary receives some protection against radiation-induced sterility by hypothermia at the time of irradiation.
