A revision of the genus Spinctrina in Europe is presented and 5 species are accepted: S. anglica, S. leucopoda, S. porrectula, S. tubiformis and S. turbinata. Most have a slightly oceanic distribution and have declined considerably over the past 100 yr. Except for S. anglica and S. porrectula, the nutritional status of which is uncertain, the species mainly occur as parasymbionts or parasites of Pertusaria species. Statistical methods were employed in the measurements of spore sizes, and ultrastructural studies on the spores are reported. Some names are regarded as taxonomic synonyms for the 1st time and several lectotypes and 2 neotypes designated.
