Abstract
Free inositol monophosphate was isolated from liver. The pure compound was identified by analysis and by comparison with inositol monophosphate prepared from phytate. Inositol monophosphate is present in ox heart, ox brain and in the liver of various animals. In ox liver the concentration of inositol monophosphate is at least 4-5 moles/100 g of wet tissue. The possible biochemical significance of inositol monophosphate is discussed. Keywords
