Abstract
We present a detailed discussion of the phase structure of hadronic matter with finite strangeness content and discuss the thermodynamic conditions for the formation of metastable strange quark droplets ("strangelets") in relativistic nuclear collisions. We point out a very rich structure of the phase diagram both at zero and nonzero temperature, and study the dynamical trajectories through this diagram taken by an expanding strange fireball. Keywords
