Relation between carbon ion ranges and x‐ray CT numbers

Abstract
Measurements of carbon ion ranges in various phantom materials and real bones are presented. Together with measured Hounsfield values, an empirical relation between ranges and Hounsfield units is derived, which is an important prerequisite for treatment planning in carbon ion therapy.Keywords
