Abstract
AS A RESULT of the indolent nature of differentiated thyroid cancer, long-term follow-up of patients is necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment modalities. However, the demographic backgrounds of the patients, the behavior of thyroid cancer, and the diagnostic and therapeutic modalities change over long periods, suggesting that misleading information could be generated by the analysis of long-term follow-up data. We must be aware of the kinds of changes that occur and whether these changes affect the outcome for patients. Keywords
