Abstract
From April 1968, the date of our first human heart transplantation in Europe, to September 1986 we performed 265 heart transplantations. In order to reduce the longer ischemic time due to usual distant procurement in the last 170 patients we modified our previous technique inspired by the pioneers of the method, R. R. Lower and N. E. Shumway. The main modification consisted in doing the aortic anastomosis immediatly after the left atrial suture and to umclamp the aorta in order to permit an early reperfusion of the donor heart. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
