Abstract
MOST of us who have recently become parents are familiar with the use of ultrasound in medicine. We have seen "baby's first picture" and thrilled to the ghost-like images of the head, the beating heart and perhaps even the face. These images are produced by ultrasound: a transducer projects high-frequency sound waves into the uterus and collects the reflected waves, which are then used to build up an image. Keywords
