Abstract
While the monistic concept of mind and body is generally accepted by psychiatrists today, in practice it is often rejected in favor of a dualistic outlook. A monistic viewpoint is formulated and its implications in regard to the problems of diagnosis, research, etiology and treatment are discussed.Keywords
