Abstract
In the Japanese long-fingered bat, M. s. fuliginosus, spermatozoa in contact with the microvilli of non-cilated cells in folds in the utero-tubal junction appeared normal, while spermatozoa remaining in the uterus degenerated and were engulfed by a massive invasion of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. No leukocytes were seen in the uterotubal junction area. The spermatozoa in this area are evidently being stored, probably until ovulation occurs. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
