Minimal Design of Sandwich Axisymmetric Plates I

Abstract
The recently developed statical method is applied to the systematic determination of the minimum volume design of sandwich axisymmetric plates obeying Tresca's yield criterion and belonging to a special class; namely, of plates supported along one of the edges only and carrying one- directional loads except possibly at the edges. It is revealed that the complexity of the problem may become considerable, but complete solutions are obtained in all cases. The most interesting findings are illustrated on specific examples.
