Abstract
In this article, we give an axiomatic introduction of directors in the space‐time continuum of Minkowski. A variational principle is presented that leads to the complete set of field equations, boundary conditions, and jump relations of the Kafadar‐Eringen theory of relativistic polar media. The constitutive equations follows from the variational formulation.Keywords
