Abstract
Several folic acid analogs were tested for folic acid replacement or sparing and for inhibition. Replacement by analogs appears to be due to folic acid contamination. Analogs in which the glutamic acid is replaced by other amino acids exhibited sparing but could not be used by the organism as a source of the amino acid with which they were substituted. 3[image], 5[image]-dichloro-N10-methylpteroylglutamic acid was an effective inhibitor and it is suggested that this compound may also be effective in inhibiting other types of aminopterin-resistant cells. Keywords
