Abstract
The first unidimensional organically templated cobalt hydrogenphosphate, [H3N(CH2)3NH3][Co(HPO4)2], has been synthesized at 433 K under solvothermal conditions in the presence of 1,3-diaminopropane and the structure determined at 150 K using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound contains anionic chains of formula [Co(HPO4)2]2– constructed from edge-sharing 4-membered rings of alternating CoO4 and HPO4 tetrahedra from which hang additional “pendant” HPO4 groups. The chains, which are structurally similar to those found recently in unidimensional aluminophosphates, are held together by a network of hydrogen bonds involving both interchain and chain–diamine interactions. Keywords
