Abstract
A 5-yr review of ethanol ingestions in children at Charity Hospital of Louisiana [USA] at New Orleans, revealed 9 cases with blood ethanol levels in excess of 21.7 mmol/l (100 mg/dl); none resulted in death. Patients [4] in whom the blood ethanol levels were potentially life-threatening are described. In 1 case, the affected child''s blood ethanol level was followed serially; the rate of decrease was about twice that reported for an adult.
