Abstract
Among 344, 542 deliveries (live births and fetal deaths of 20 or more weeks gestation) in 2 years, 5,152 were reported to have had a congenital malformation. Incidence rates by ethnic group and by source (hospital auspices) of report, by birth weight, by parity, by plurality, and by age of mother have been calculated. Associations of malformations with maternal conditions, such as diabetes, pyelitis and preeclampsia are shown. Limitations of the data and their relevance to the findings are discussed, as well as the usefulness of such data form epidemiologic research. Keywords
