Abstract
A study was undertaken to determine the effect of cefoxitin sodium, alone or in combination with furosemide, on renal function in 37 patients with moderate impairment of renal function; 10 of the 37 patients served as a control group receiving no drug treatment. The glomerular filtration rate (Cr-51-EDTA test) and serum concentration of cefoxitin were measured in 27 patients at various times. The results of the study indicate that cefoxitin is not nephrotoxic when given in moderate doses to patients with slightly impaired renal function. Keywords
