Abstract
A queuing process of the type M/G/1 is considered where units balk (refuse to join) as well as renege (depart without being serviced). The servicing of the units is subject to breakdowns caused by the arrival of “interruptions” that have to be cleared on a priority basis. Four models, models I, II, III, and IV, have been postulated and the detailed formulation and solution of one of the models is given while the results for the remaining models are quoted. The supplementary variable technique and discrete transforms have been employed in the formulation and the solution of the problem. Keywords
