Abstract
Because of the ever increasing numbers of children with learning disabilities, a new concept, one of a “child specialist” is introduced. The role of the “child specialist” is defined and the principles and philosophy supporting this approach are discussed. The importance of this new role emanates from the many socio-economic forces in our society which are counter-productive to children's best interests. Selection and training methods for such a “child specialist” role are presented in detail. Keywords
