Malathion Dust for the Control of Lice On Domestic Game Birds

Abstract
One % malathion dust applied to the natural dust-bath wallows of avicultured Chukar partridges (Alectoris graeca), bobwhite quail (Colinus virginianus), California quail (Lophortyx californicus), golden pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus), Mongolian pheasant (Phasianus colchicus mongolicus), and ringnecked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus), gave complete control of 3 species of lice (Lipeurus sp., Goniocotes sp., and Goniodes sp.) for more than 90 days after treatment. No adverse effects of the treatment on the birds were seen.
