Abstract
The polycythaemic response to hypoxia was studied in 30 ex-coal miners, comprising 14 patients with complicated pneumoconiosis and 16 with chronic non-specific lung disease. A close correlation was found between arterial oxygen saturation and haemoglobin, packed-cell volume, and the red cell mass. Keywords
