p‐Bromobenzazide as a reagent for the identification of phenols

Abstract
Thirty‐three crystalline p‐bromophenyl‐urethanes were prepared by condensation of p‐bromobenzazide with various types of phenols in boiling ligroin solution. The yields were so very high and the melting points so distinctive that we recommend p‐bromobenzazide to be used as a micro‐reagent for the identification of phenols.
