Abstract
A distribution function is presented that may be used to study the effects of finite temperature on the equilibrium and stability properties of magnetically insulated electron flows. This distribution function has the useful property that it generates the thoroughly studied class of constant Q=ω2p/Ω2 equilibria in its zero‐temperature limit. Analytic solutions are given for the general, constant Q, zero‐temperature equilibria. Keywords
