Abstract
Criteria for design evaluation in an optimization environment may be combined in different forms to produce a more accurate representation of the overall merit of a design. A rational and systematic procedure for aggregating performance criteria based on fuzzy set theory is presented. Optimal solutions obtained from this procedure are formally related to solutions to traditional formulations in multiobjective optimization. The procedure is illustrated with an exampleKeywords
