Abstract
A number of compounds of the type [ΦC5H5) (Φ-C9H7)ZrL]+ have been synthesised, L is the conjugate base of oxine (B-hydroxyquinoline) and X may be Br−, I−, 2nCl3(H2O))−, CaC12- 4 and EgCl− 3. Conductivity measurement in nitrobenzene solution indicate that these complexes are electrolytes. Both the IR and NMR studies demonstrate that the ligend L is chelating in all the complexes. Consequently, there is tetrahedral coordination about the zirconium(IV) ion. Keywords
