Abstract
Conceptual systems theory and information theory were the bases for an exploratory descriptive study of elementary school principals' behavior. Relationships were identified among principals' level of integrative complexity, the complexity of their school environments, and their person-oriented leadership style. Implications for adminis trator selection and preparation were drawn.
