Abstract
Electron bunching and energy extraction in a three-cavity gyroklystron amplifier have been studied in detail. As predicted by theory, the strong effect of the position and tuning of the penultimate cavity on gyroklystron efficiency and gain has been verified experimentally. The measured peak efficiency was 55% with 15dB gain. Another version of the gyroklystron produced a peak saturated gain of 30 dB with an efficiency of 45%.Keywords
