Multidimensionality of Locus of Control for Common Stock Investors

Abstract
Stock market investors were surveyed by mail for a study of the multidimensionality of Rotter's scale for this group. All common stock investors, 253 respondents, comprised a sample 94% male, ranging in age from 21 yr. to over 65 yr. ( M = 50 yr.). The mean of the Rotter scores was 6.79, with a SD of 3.67. Following principal components analysis with a varimax rotation, extracted factors corresponded closely to those found by previous researchers using data from high school and college students.
