Abstract
Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is an important cause of acute viral hepatitis worldwide.1 Kamar et al. in this issue of the Journal 2 and others3,4 have recently suggested that HEV infection might result in chronic hepatitis in immunocompromised patients. We report a rapidly progressing case of cirrhosis in a renal-transplant recipient with chronic HEV infection. Keywords
